Campus Specific Information


Reporting to the Executive Director of Communications and Marketing, the Web Content Manager (Communications Electronic Media Manager) will act as deputy for setting and administering editorial policy for the Graduate Center's web, digital and video presence, acting as overall web content manager, editor and conservator. This individual will ensure that the Graduate Center is represented in a brand-consistent manner and in conformity with established standards. S/he will assume content ownership for the Graduate Center's website and other digital communications.


Responsibilities:


  • Utilizes user-centered design principles to develop, design, and evaluate visual interfaces with all digital content, consistent with established Graduate Center guidelines. S/he will work successfully with administrators, students, faculty members and other partners to develop web sites that balance individual business unit objectives with institutional objectives.
  • Keeps abreast of new platforms and trends in web design, analytics, digital communication and social media, and recommends new opportunities to advance in the digital space. Recommends new and existing technology in response to the evolving needs of the Graduate Center.
  • Develops both strategy and implementation plans for Graduate Center digital goals including video-based content. Equally considers big picture and execution, ensuring that GC objectives and departmental strategy are prioritized, design standards are rigorously adhered to, and content is always effectively incorporated across web publications and electronic media.
  • Acts as a liaison for the creative/content team to the GC's Information Technology team, as well as necessary vendors. Coordinates among cross-functional teams to identify challenges, improvements to processes; recommends way to keep the GC website up-to-date and successful.
  • Responsible for aligning technical specifications and performance analysis with marketing strategy and for collecting/reporting web analytics. Develops and oversees a coherent brand image that enhances the GC's reputation via websites.
  • Uses information architecture and familiarity with various data sources and systems used to support the GC's web presence. Reviews architecture for new websites and features. Manages the integration of the information design and project concept.
  • Performs related special projects as necessary.



General Duties


  • Manages electronic, online and multi-media communications, providing editorial, technical and production expertise.
  • Consults with client staff to assess needs and determine design and technical specifications
  • Plans communications messages, formats, and designs which meet clients' needs and have impact with the intended audience(s)
  • Coordinates the efforts of internal and external professionals to implement and disseminate electronic media projects
  • Creates and maintains databases, archives, and other content associated with electronic media projects
  • Develops production policies and standards and adheres to communications and branding standards
  • Supervises staff as needed
  • Performs related duties as assigned.




Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications


Bachelor's degree and six years' related experience required.



Other Qualifications


  • Advanced degree in web design, strategic communications or related fields
  • Demonstrated experience in graphic design, information architecture, usability, technology experience design; understanding of capabilities of various devices and design constraints of the Web
  • Experience in website optimization technologies to enhance representation and brand recognition
  • Demonstrated experience with range of web technologies (digital media formats, mobile applications, social media, still images (TIFF, GIF, JPEG, EPS)
  • Demonstrated experience in web communications skills; knowledge of MLA or Chicago style guides required
  • History of project management skills; demonstrated capacity to manage multiple tasks and teams simultaneously




FLSA Status – Exempt



Salary Range - Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
