The Amazon Web Services (AWS) team is launching a new business, and we need highly skilled Software Development Engineer who is passionate about creating amazing customer experiences on tablet and mobile apps on Android or iOS platforms.

In this role, you will be responsible for creating and owning world-class production tablet and web client applications across major platforms including iOS and Android . You must be willing to insist on the highest standards for quality, maintainability, and performance. You will ensure that engineering best practices are followed and that software is designed to be responsive, reliable and maintainable.

As a member of the founding team, you will have significant influence on our overall strategy by helping define the product features, drive system architecture, and spearhead the best practices that enable a quality v1 product setting the ground work for a successful v2 and beyond.

The ideal candidate has hands-on practical experience creating beautiful, simple, elegant, and powerful iPad and/or Android tablet applications and a sound understanding of the fundamentals of Computer Science. He or she has strong OO design and implementation experience with knowledge of web services and protocols (HTTP/XML/REST).

This position is based out of Palo Alto, where the entire team will be located.

  • BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3+ years of industry experience.
  • Previous experience building iPad or Android Tablet applications.
  • Working knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and object oriented design
  • Working knowledge of REST and RPC service patterns and other client/server interaction models
  • Working knowledge of common Internet technologies (e.g. HTTP, HTML, JavaScript, AJAX)

  • Built a Top 25 app
  • Desire to build a brand new service from the ground floor.
  • Deep understanding of iOS or Android mobile development and best practices and desire to code on Android or iOS platforms.
