Job DescriptionThe Intelligence Squared U.S. Debates is looking for a freelance booker/researcher who can provide booking support under tight deadlines of producing 12 annual debates in New York City including a few on the road. The booker would work with a small team of senior producers who execute the production of the live debates, as well as national radio (NPR), TV (PBS), and live stream broadcasts.Who we are looking for:The ideal candidate is a high energy, ideas driven individual who understands the world of public policy, (foreign and domestic), the geography and politics of the think tank establishment and can also think outside the box in the worlds of culture, society, technology, science, business, politics, and medicine, just to name a few. You have top notch research skills and can secure high level national and international newsmakers, experts, and guests to debate the issues.Skills & Qualifications:- Three to four years’ experience with demonstrated ability to conduct pre-interviews, screen and analyze on-air performance, and secure high level participants. - In depth knowledge of foreign and domestic policy establishment, think tanks in the U.S. and abroad, and a track record in gaining access to newsmakers.- Capable of utilizing expertise in research sources including public records and the internet.- Effective communicator; strong writing skills and sound news judgment.- Self-starter, able to see the big picture, drive the vision and orchestrate short and long-term objectives. - High level of comfort when interacting with VIPs and senior executives in social and professional settings.- Detail-oriented and able to work under pressure and meet multiple deadlines in a corporate environment.- 4-year degree from an accredited College or University.Compensation Freelance position on a daily and/or weekly basis depending on the timing of the debate season, with the possibility of becoming a full-time position with benefits.
