The Team: How often have you had an opportunity to be a founding member of a team that is tasked with solving a huge business problem through innovative technology? Would you like to know more about how computer vision and machine learning can be used to solve these problems? If this sounds intriguing, then we'd like to talk to you about a role on a new Amazon team that's in stealth-mode and tackling a set of problems requiring significant innovation. The Role: Everyone on the team needs to be entrepreneurial, wear many hats and work in a highly collaborative environment that's more start-up than big company. As a Research Scientist, you will have an enormous opportunity to conduct applied research on futuristic technologies, while helping build customer-facing solutions that will be used by millions of people. You will partner closely with the engineering team as a domain expert in one of more of the following fields: computer vision, image recognition, machine learning, real-time and large-scale distributed systems. You should be comfortable building prototypes in partnership with other technology leaders within the team. Academic and/or industry experience with one of more of the following domains: computer vision, image recognition, machine learning or large-scale distributed systems. 5+ years of industry experience. Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as C, C++, Java, or Python.Experience in developing novel and practical solutions with limited resources/power to real-world problems. Familiarity with data structures, algorithms, and complexity analysis.Experience with designing and building large-scale systems in a multi-tiered, distributed environment (Service Oriented Architecture). Proficiency in Matlab or R.
