Full Time
Are you a Software Engineer interested in helping expand Amazon's rapidly growing Manufacture on Demand business? If so, we have a great opportunity for you.

The Disc on Demand Ingestion tech team builds the technology to process and list thousands of DVDs, CDs, MP3 and Video on Demand feeds each month. This team also safeguards our life-blood through our "apocalypse-proof" backup system.

This is a great opportunity to make a major difference in the game-changing MOD world. The team we're relocating is migrating the current non-Amazon systems onto the Amazon technical infrastructure, including extensive new use of AWS. We have a lot of hard work to do, but this is a fantastic chance to "do it right" and build systems that will scale. The DOD Ingestion tech team works with audio and video processing, Amazon and third party feeds, large scale distributed storage, workflow systems, mission-critical offline backups and much more.

Not familiar with MOD? Amazon and our wholly-owned subsidiary CreateSpace are leaders in this space -- in fact, a surprisingly large number of DVDs, CDs and books that are available on don't exist as physical inventory. Instead, these items are simply stored as data and manufactured "one off" as customers place their orders. Think of servers replacing warehouses and you've got the picture. As the world of media goes digital, MOD will increasingly be how customers who want physical goods can still get 'em.

Position Overview
Our team will give you daily opportunities to use your ingenuity, drive, and passion to build world-class, customer focused software. As a Software Engineer on this team, you will develop software almost exclusively in Java, with some objective-C and C, spanning Windows, Mac, and Linux platforms. You will design, build and maintain features as well as have a high level of input on architectural design decisions for the team.
