Express, Editorial Designer
Express, The Washington Post's free commuter newspaper, is seeking a talented graphic designer to produce daily news and features pages and special sections. The ideal candidate should have a journalist's mindset and a strong understanding of how text, graphics and photos can tell a story. He or she can design clean and dynamic pages and illustrate stories and section covers with strategic selection of stock or staff photography. Adobe Creative Suite expertise and strong typographical skills are a must.

A desirable candidate will be able to:

-Present Express' editorial content in innovative and engaging ways while operating within Express' established look and feel;
-Contribute ideas about both design and content during editorial meetings;
-Collaborate effectively with a team of editors and other designers;
-Assist the design team with photo selection and processing;
-Keep up in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.

Requirements: A degree in graphic design or journalism, with 2-3 years editorial design experience at a newspaper or magazine.

Job Duration: 6-month contract position
