Melcher Media is looking for bright, talented, and enthusiastic interns wanting to learn about the book business and to work on the cutting edge of multiplatform storytelling with leading global brands.

This is a paid ($10/hour), temporary (6–12 months) internship that is primarily designed to expose successful candidates to all facets of the company and to all aspects of telling stories: in print, e-books, and content-rich app production. This is an opportunity for applicants to develop and hone skills while deciding on the direction of their career. Ideal candidates should have an interest in digital and social media, the editorial process, art, photography, design, and storytelling; a Bachelor’s degree; meticulous attention to detail; a strong work ethic; excellent interpersonal skills; and the desire to learn.

Candidate(s) responsibilities may include the following:
• Working with the production director to request and analyze competitive bids, manage workflow, reprints, book inventory, and office supplies;
• Organizing and maintaining the digital archives system and assisting with the creation of electronic books;
• Working directly with senior staff members to provide general administrative assistance;
• Working with editors to provide general editorial support on app, book, video, website, and other multimedia projects;
• Working with digital producers to edit video and program apps; and
• Working with producers to research and organize a storytelling conference for the digital age.

Familiarity with the following software is a definite plus: InDesign, Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, HTML.
