Program Communications Manager – Communications and Publications Department

TNTP seeks a full-time Program Communications Manager for the Communications and Publications Department. This position is available immediately and can be based in a home office anywhere in the U.S or TNTP’s central office in Brooklyn, NY. This position will require occasional travel.

Communications & Publications Department

The Communications & Publications department is a small, dynamic team responsible for TNTP's internal and external communications efforts. This team manages TNTP’s brand and social media strategy, writes and edits TNTP publications, provides strategic communications support to more than 25 TNTP project sites, generates proposals for new business, and ensures that TNTP’s 350-person staff is well-informed. In 2012, major communications projects included coordinating the writing and release of The Irreplaceables, TNTP’s widely acclaimed study of teacher retention, and launching the Fishman Prize for Superlative Classroom Practice, a $25,000 award for exceptional teachers in high-poverty schools.

Roles and Responsibilities

Working closely with the Director of Program Communications, the Program Communications Manager will play a lead role in designing and executing communications strategies to support TNTP’s New Teacher Effectiveness (NTE) Group and its teacher recruitment and training programs nationwide. These programs face a wide range of communications challenges, from developing marketing campaigns and guiding candidates through the application process to managing relationships with program stakeholders and the media. The Program Communications Manager will craft messages, write and edit a wide variety of materials and provide high-level communications and marketing support to teams across the organization.

Specific responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
•Write and edit website copy, guidebooks, candidate correspondence, social media posts, newsletters, press releases, talking points, presentations and other materials
•Create, implement, and monitor systems and resources to ensure clear, consistent, high-quality messaging is being distributed by our programs to applicants and participants
•Coordinate closely with NTE staff in communications-related roles (e.g., candidate recruitment, program registration, etc.) to ensure all communications are aligned to a unified strategy.
•Ensure seamless brand and design identity across programs and online platforms
•Serve as a primary staff point person for strategic program communications support and trainings
•Coordinate with vendors, including graphic designers, printers and developers
•Support knowledge management and internal communications across programs and within TNTP’s New Teacher Effectiveness Group.

This position reports to the Director of Program Communications.

Qualifications

•Minimum of 3 years of communications, marketing or public relations experience

•Proven organizational and project management abilities
•Obsessive attention to detail
•Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
•Outstanding interpersonal and teamwork skills
•A willingness to work non-standard hours and/or occasional weekends
•Basic familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator) a plus

Compensation

The annual salary for this position is $55,000 or commensurate with experience in a similar position with the potential for a performance based bonus.
