New York based ShermansTravel Media is seeking a dynamic and highly energetic, Manager/Senior Manager, Business Development. For over a decade, we have been an industry leading online publisher, providing consumers with hand-picked travel deals and money-saving expert advice at www.shermanstravel.com. No matter what stage in the travel planning process, our combined original content, travel offerings, and useful tools aim to save value-conscious travelers time and money. We're looking for someone who has strong experience generating revenue through strategic partnerships. Our ideal candidate has a talent for finding and closing deals and has successfully grown a brand through developing a rich network of partnerships, coupled with a strong interest in and knowledge of travel.
The successful candidate is a creative problem-solver with hustle, who knows smart deals and how to structure the best opportunity to serve both ShermansTravel Media and our new partners. You are driven to succeed and measure your success through exceeding revenue growth targets and generating meaningful brand exposure. You should have a strong entrepreneurial bent and believe in the enormous potential of the online travel category. You have most recently been a Manager (or equivalent experience) and are excited to apply your best-in-class business development expertise to the travel market.
This position requires an analytical, metrics-driven mindset, with the foresight to think ‘outside of the box’. This individual will play a key role on a results-driven marketing team in a fast-paced ever-changing environment.
The Manager/Senior Manager will report to the Vice President, Business Development & Marketing. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual.

The Job
This pivotal role is responsible for driving strategic new business partnerships and marketing programs to drive content syndication, site traffic, email product growth, subscriber acquisition, and overall revenue.
•Develop and execute business development strategies and programs to exceed business plan
•Ensure revenue, gross margin and customer targets are achieved
•Successfully develop new, scalable partnerships: Initiate negotiations, complete contract process, and orchestrate partnership program implementation
•Manage relationships with portals, premier publishers, affiliates, networks, travel companies, deals sites, and lifestyle brands to maximize revenue and profitability
•Help to identify, prospect, and negotiate strategic relationships with a wide range of partners, expanding into new verticals
•Work cross-functionally with internal teams (sales, deals production, technology, editorial, finance) in overall management, optimization, and sell through of syndication and marketing programs

•Manage overall P&L of syndication business and marketing programs, including forecasting/planning, regular analysis, and month-end reporting to ensure programs are achieving targets
•Develop, maintain, and report on pipeline of prospects in multiple business areas
•Ensure effective creative and technical development and execution to support programs

The Right Candidate
Broadly:
•Has 5-8 years progressive online business experience
•Holds a Bachelors Degree or MBA in marketing, advertising, business management, engineering, or equivalent experience with a liberal arts degree
•Is an aggressive, self-starter with excellent communication skills and a proven track record in business development in online media/publishing (travel preferred by not required)
•Takes a consultative approach to working with prospects and partners
•Is highly organized with outstanding project management skills
•Demonstrates a passionate and committed ownership of professional role
•Commands the ability to drive projects from inception through completion with little direction
•Is results oriented with a strong desire to win and will not settle for anything but the best
•Has proven experience managing partner contract negotiations
•Has excellent cold calling, influencing and closing skills
•Is analytical and can dig into the numbers in order to craft the most profitable opportunity
•Is a demonstrated team player in an environment that fosters creativity and a culture of open and honest communication
•Is a proven collaborator and can work with colleagues to ensure seamless execution of deals
•Is able to maximize the value of partnerships by developing a deep knowledge of potential partners alongside a clear understanding of ShermansTravel Media’s underlying economics and brand & product position

Specifically:
•Has knowledge of online product marketing and/or technical development
•Has achieved scalable B2B strategic partnerships, cultivating key high-level relationships in online media
•Has worked directly with engineering/development and sales teams
•Has a strong background in positioning, launching, and marketing technology products/solutions
•Has command of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint) and proprietary CMS systems
•Has familiarity with site analytics (Google Analytics, Omniture, etc.)
•Carries in-depth knowledge of the email marketing and lead generation (preferred but not required)
•Possesses basic technological knowledge of API, xml & RSS feed, and widget solutions
