Are you passionate about politics, policy and journalism? Do you want to be part of an enterprise that is trying to create a new kind of journalism for a new kind of society? Do you want to help analyze and track the decline of the blue social model and the rise of a new, 21st century version of the American Dream?

The American Interest is looking to hire junior writers to work with Walter Russell Mead and other AI staff to research, prep and draft short posts and other material for Via Meadia, Mead’s widely read blog.

This entry-level position is a great opportunity for a recent grad who wants a start in journalism, new media and politics. You will be writing several unbylined short posts each day conforming to a general style and analysis framework set by Walter Mead and helping to develop more complex pieces. Regular editorial meetings with Professor Mead and daily meetings with AI staff will provide you with the tools you need to grow as an analyst and writer.

We’re looking for smart, ambitious, self-motivated people with a passion for writing and the ability to work independently. If you follow the blog you will have a good idea about the issues that interest us and the skills we value: liberal arts grads with excellent writing skills who actually learned something in college are welcome here.

This is a full-time position based in Washington DC. Please send a resume and a writing sample, preferably consisting of two clips, to viameadia@the-american-interest.com.
