Test Kitchen Director - Southern Living
The South’s Most Trusted Kitchen is looking for a dynamic leader. Here’s what you need to bring to the table:-At least five years of experience in the food department of a major magazine or food publishing outlet. A culinary degree and/or professional kitchen experience is a must. -The ability and drive to effectively manage, inspire,teach, and lead a team (with an emphasis on TEAM) of talented cooks.-Develop, test, refine, and edit recipes under deadline in an individual and team environment.-A visual eye. Food styling experience is a plus. Understanding the importance of food photography in the editorial process is a must. -Advance the country’s notions of Southern cooking while also paying homage to its traditions and heritage.-An editorial sensibility. The ability to produce strong food content for features, food section stories, and covers (this includes both conceptualizing packaging elements and creating a mix of fresh and inspiredrecipes with a Southern accent.)-Contribute to SouthernLiving.com’s Daily South blog and coordinate photography and video for visiting chefs and in-house events.-Be a tastemaker and consistently identify and predictculinary trends. Cultivate relationships with chefs, bartenders, writers, photographers, and food stylists who are rising stars.-Willing to represent the brand at industry events (SFA Symposium, IACP, Food Blog South, etc.) and on television and web videos.-A knife, fork, spoon, and opinion at our daily tastings.
