About.com Guides & Topic Writers (Freelance)
Are you an experienced writer? Do you want to help others learn more about a topic you're passionate about? About.com, a subsidiary of The New York Times Company, is currently seeking Guides and Topic Writers to cover a number of subjects in health, technology, travel, entertainment, education, and more. We’re also seeking people to write in Spanish for our new channel, About en Español. Guides and Topic Writers are credible authorities in their fields who understand how to convey their expertise to users in a friendly yet informative way. They write original and easy-to-follow content, including articles, profiles, and reviews for users looking to meet the diverse needs that arise in their everyday lives. There are some differences between an About.com Guide and a Topic Writer. Topic Writers write content on topics that are more specialized than what About.com Guides cover. Like Guides, Topic Writers write a blog and informative, actionable content. Topic Writers, unlike About.com Guides, do not write a weekly email newsletter or moderate a discussion forum. To become a Guide or Topic Writer, you'll need to have published writing experience in your area of expertise. The ideal candidate would also be an excellent web writer and could produce engaging and useful copy on a regular basis and interact with users through social media outlets such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. All About.com Guides and Topic Writers set their own schedules, giving them the flexibility to log on from anywhere in the world and work at their own pace.
