Niche Media is looking for a driven Editor-in-Chief to join our high-performing Ocean Drive Magazine team. The primary duties for this position include the following: •Determines themes and contents of issues in concordance with Publisher and Editorial Director.•Initiates and responds to ideas for articles according to editorial policy.•Establishes and oversees schedules for the editorial content of publication.•Prioritizes, tracks, handles, and maintains records of the elements, costs, and time schedules of each issue.•Initiates or replies to correspondence regarding material published or being considered for publication.•Directs copy editors, production editors, writers, and researchers.•Writes or directs the writing of articles, stories, editorials, headlines, and captions.•Rewrites or directs the rewriting of copy, headlines, and captions to clarify meaning and to conform to publication's style and editorial policy.•Copy edits or directs copy editing activities such as conferring with writers, editing copy, marking up copy, and reading page proofs, or blues to detect and correct errors.•Participates in marketing and promotion planning.•Attends professional and social events relevant to the publication's content and audience.•Plans and implements long-term planning, including assessment of publisher's needs in terms of products, costs, pricing, and timing.•Meets with key authors and agents to assist acquisition editors in signing contracts and maintaining relationships.•Manages local editorial team and works closely with NY-based Editorial team.The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:•Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or 7-10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.•Minimum seven years prior editorial experience.•Prior magazine publishing experience required, ideally in the luxury lifestyle segment.•Must be familiar with editorial market and competitors, and have deep connections to Miami community.•Strong writing and editing ability; able to craft fashion news items that meet journalistic standards.•Ability to use MAC platform and work within Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel and Outlook.Successful candidates work well under pressure and thrive in a dynamic, deadline-driven, rapidly changing environment.
