JOB DESCRIPTION

Billboard is seeking a Features Editor for its New York or Los Angeles office. This individual will aid the editor of the site by writing and reporting special features articles, lists and news stories for the site as assigned, help in the production of special sections, maintain the upkeep of regular sections of the site, and contribute innovative content ideas. Additionally, the person will be responsible for handling various administrative and editorial research-related tasks.

MAIN DUTIES

-- Manage production of lists, features and special content, under the direction of Billboard editor.

-- Work with editors and writers for Billboard.com to brainstorm and manage timely artist/ genre-specific features and lists

-- Identify, curate and report music-related news and feature content relevant to our audience

-- Edit/write Billboard news stories as assigned by the editor

-- Post regular Billboard content including columns and video.


DESIRED SKILLS

-- Ability to identify and write music features and news quickly and accurately.

-- Familiarity with all types of popular music, particularly pop, hip-hop/R&B and rock genres

-- Extensive familiarity with music news publications and websites worldwide.

-- Extremely conformable with html, Photoshop and other major web publishing tools

-- Ability to conduct interviews.

-- Ability to meaningfully gather and present data within stories.

-- Ability to quickly obtain and parse various sources -- internet, people, printed matter -- for key data.


EXPERIENCE

-- 2 years reporting and editing experience, preferably with a daily, weekly, or major web publication or wire service with a focus on entertainment/pop culture.

-- Undergraduate degree required in Journalism or a related field preferred.

-- 1 year experience using html, Photoshop and other major web publishing tools working, preferably with a daily, weekly, or major web publication or wire service with a focus on entertainment/pop culture.

-- Knowledge of basic html including the ability to embed multimedia and use social networking platforms.
