Mr. Jason Rekulak
Full Time
Quirk Books is seeking a creative and talented Acquisitions Editor.

Book publishing is changing at warp-speed. The big publishers are getting even bigger. The old business models are collapsing. And the future belongs to small presses that can adapt quickly, respond to a changing marketplace, and (above all!) produce terrific books that people want to read.

Quirk is looking to expand its stellar creative team with the hire of a new Acquisitions Editor. We already publish across a wide range of categories--fiction, history, craft books, children's titles, and more, always with a focus on originality, innovation, and fresh ideas.

What kinds of weird and wonderful books could you acquire for Quirk?

What You'll Do:
--Acquire, develop, and edit 8 books per year that complement and expand Quirk's publishing program.
--Seek new and innovative approaches to traditional publishing categories.
--Manage all projects from acquisition through publication.
--Participate in all aspects of packaging, marketing, production, and digital adaptation.
--Cultivate relationships with authors, artists, literary agents, and licensing agents.

What You'll Need:
--Ability to conceive projects independently or in conjunction with writers and/or artists.
--At least five to ten years of experience with a trade publisher or literary agency.
--Excellent writing skills.
--Solid network of author/agent contacts.
--Willingness to experiment with a host of print/digital models and formats
--Comprehensive knowledge of publishing industry

Please send resume, salary history, and a list of notable title acquisitions via email through Media Bistro. Or snail-mail to Human Resources c/o Quirk Books, 215 Church Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106. NO PHONE CALLS, PLEASE.
