Billboard is seeking a Social Media Editor for its New York office. This individual will be responsible for managing and maintaining the editorial voice on all Billboard social media platforms, including Twitter and Facebook. Additionally, the person will be responsible for liaising with and developing relationship with other relevant social media representatives in the music space..


-- Day-to-day content management for Billboard’s social accounts on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Pinterest, Foursquare and Google+

-- Daily maintenance for Billboard’s social properties: Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Pinterest, Foursquare, Tumblr, Instagram and Google+. Maintenance includes but is not limited to moderating comments, reviewing new followers/fans and communicating with Billboard groups when questions arise from one of those channels

-- Targeted outreach to fan sites and bloggers to promote editorial content

--Attend editorial and product meetings to review current community growth campaigns and tactics as well as brainstorm new campaigns and tactics as needed

-- Manage all social media contests and sweepstakes. Duties include working with legal on official rules, activation, winner selection and prize fulfillment.

-- Work with editorial, sales and social media leadership to execute campaigns for clients that have an editorial tie

-- Liaising with Billboard’s Web Analyst and social media leadership as needed to create ad hoc social reports

-- Attend industry events and plan offline events to better connect and engage with the Billboard community


-- Extensive familiarity and understanding of current and developing social media platforms.

-- Familiarity with all types of popular music, particularly pop, hip-hop/R&B, rock and alternative genres

-- Ability to develop and maintain a strong editorial voice in the online space

-- Basic understanding of major web publishing software


-- 1 year experience in the social media space, preferably with a daily, weekly, or major web publication or wire service with a focus on entertainment/pop culture.

-- Undergraduate degree in English, journalism, marketing or a related field preferred.

-- Knowledge of music/ pop culture, with additional contacts and awareness of music innovations and technology.

-- Knowledge of basic html including the ability to embed multimedia and use social networking platforms.
