We have an immediate opening for a Consumer Rankings Analyst to join our editorial team in Washington, D.C.

U.S. News has been at the vanguard of evaluating Education and Health institutions for nearly thirty years. Since 2007, we have been expanding our rankings franchises to help consumers make important decisions in a broader set of categories.

The Consumer Rankings Analyst will direct our quantitative rankings in these categories: Careers, Personal Finance, Retirement, and Health & Wellness. In this role, you will have the opportunity to help millions of people each month make smarter, more informed decisions on the basis of data.


•Oversee the data, processes, and improvements for existing rankings franchises such as Best Jobs, Best Mutual Funds, Best ETFs, Best Places to Retire, and Best Diets
•Conduct research to source data and develop statistical algorithms
•Create new rankings products and improve existing ones in collaboration with our editorial, technology, design, and business teams
•Cultivate relationships with data providers and identify new partners to support and improve our rankings projects
•Implement processes and systems to ensure that all rankings leverage best practices for data management and quality assurance
•Help to create other uses for interesting data, including online consumer tools, industry services, and news reporting


•A minimum of 5 to 7 years experience in economics, statistics, or a related quantitative field
•Strong research skills
•Strong analytical thinking skills and the ability to uncover key insights within extensive data
•Experience working with statistics and data analysis software
•Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
•Strong organizational skills, able to manage multiple, complex tasks at once
•Ability to work with diverse staff in varying positions
•High level of intellectual curiosity
•Desire to make a difference
