ALA Editions, a profit center and publishing imprint for the American Library Association, is a leading professional/reference publisher in the library and information services community.

The acquisitions editor will be responsible for meeting the acquisitions and profitability goals by developing new signing priorities; recruiting authors; developing print and digital products that meet market needs; controlling schedules and costs, and managing project team relationships.

The successful candidate will have an ability to contribute new ideas; knowledge of markets; analytical skills and judgment; a track record of innovation and success; good interpersonal and communication skills; and proven editorial and writing ability.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree; a minimum of five to seven years in publishing or relevant experience; electronically sophisticated, including strong word-processing, spreadsheet and Internet research skills; appreciation of a diverse workforce.

Occasional travel required.
