The Digital Sales Director is a detail-oriented, highly organized individual with responsibility for ensuring the Mid-West Coast sales team delivers on the revenue goals of USA TODAY, as well as personally drive sales within the region. The Director will have individual responsibility for a major automotive manufacturer. The ideal candidate will have prior sales management experience, strong team building skills, strong presentation skills and industry contacts. This player/coach must be able to professionally, effectively and accurately represent USA TODAY in the marketplace, facilitating brand strength and credibility. Essential functions of the job include strong networking abilities, negotiation skills, ability to analyze data quickly, strategic ideas, and strong leadership skills. Position will be based in Detroit, Michigan.



Responsibilities:

Lead the national digital sales team in designated region to drive sales revenue against a set of accounts.
Identifies client needs and uses demographic and market analysis, and knowledge of the client’s business and competition to deliver effective proposals to clients.
Negotiates with internal resources and clients on advertising programs to assure that customer satisfaction is achieved and revenue objectives are met.
Using knowledge of the competition and industry, develops and executes value added strategies that generate business and strengthen USA TODAY's marketplace position.
Identifies the needs of a client through discussions of their objectives and strategies, and collaborates with client solutions to develop advertising opportunities to meet them. This includes, but is not limited to, planning and participating in special sales event functions that impact revenue, developing advertising prospects, active participation in business organizations and industry groups that lend to the business growth areas.
Develops a high level of competency of USA TODAY’s competitive advertising environment and builds knowledge of the clients’ business.
Identifies opportunities for new advertising strategies and recommends creative ideas that improve USA TODAY’s competitive position and the bottom line.
Represents USA TODAY with knowledge and confidence.


Requirements

Minimum of bachelor’s degree with a concentration in marketing and/or advertising
Minimum 5 years of advertising sales experience with a proven track record as an outside sales representative (with an ability to showcase revenue success)
Prior sales leadership experience a plus.
Highly experienced digital media and mobile sales background, with a unique skill-set: must be creative, collaborative and strategic, with a lean towards creating custom programs, have a strong understanding of the principles of lead generation, and know how to sell value of editorial engagement and audience.
Solid knowledge base of digital media and mobile sales solutions, including sponsorship, and display sales.
Strong organizational skills including the ability to facilitate and lead productive meetings with internal staff and clients
Strong knowledge of the sales process with working knowledge of Salesforce.com
Ability to translate clients' needs into an effective campaign
Ability to work in a fast paced/deadline driven environment
Must be able to be based in Detroit.
