Lonely Planet has an excellent opportunity for a Sales Development Manager to join their dynamic Client Solutions Sales team. The Sales Development Manager role will be located in our Lonely Planet office in Oakland, CA.

Reporting to the Director, Client Solutions, the Sales Development Manager (SDM) is a new role in the Client Solutions team that is designed to support the sales team in achieving their goals of revenue growth, with a clear focus on pre-sales support. The SDM is responsible for providing idea generation, pre-sales support and commercial analysis, working with sales, product & delivery teams and key stakeholders to develop and scope creative solutions, both proactively and in response to briefs.

The SDM will work collaboratively with the Sales Team and Product teams to conceive and develop better CS products for the region, as well as staying abreast of emerging digital technologies and innovative media channels.

The SDM is responsible for maintaining and developing regional sales collateral, pricing tools, facilitating costing requests and ensuring all deals adhere to editorial and commercial guidelines in the pre-sales stage.

Competitor analysis will also be required, trends in usage of content by companies across region and industry, future areas of opportunity as technology progresses, research and analysis into ROI measurement and sales tools.

The SDM is a highly collaborative role with a keen focus on driving revenue, working with all team members to achieve regional targets and objectives.

Key Tasks:
• Provide pre-sales deal support for sales team: idea generation, content availability, product capabilities, costing, pricing suggestions, presentation development, etc.
• Work with design on new sales collateral and presentations for Sales Reps.
• Continually improve sales tools for all Sales Reps: costing tools, pricing menus, presentations, videos, etc.
• Stay abreast of emerging social media trends to leverage for benefit the of our clients
• Act as primary liaison with the product team on content and product strategies, providing product team with business cases based on the market needs and opportunity.
• Report on regional trends and competitor offerings and identify new opportunities for sales team
Key Skills
• Sales, B2B marketing or sales development experience (3+ years)
• Innovative, strategic and creative thinker. Creative problem solver with the ability to think outside the box.
• Comfortable with ambiguity and in rapidly changing industry
• Ability to juggle several projects simultaneously.
• Ability to manage costing tools, forecasting and managing margins. Very comfortable with numbers.
• Strong interpersonal skills to manage multiple stakeholders
• Excellent planning, organizational and time management skills and an ability to work with competing priorities
• ability to communicate effectively with staff and managers in all departments and offices at all levels of the organization
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Entrepreneurial
• Experience in working with print and digital media, content licensing, custom publishing and/or mobile
• Experience in a client facing business and the demands required in it
• Solid understanding of B2B key markets, business customers and general travel trends, the digital product environment and publishing.
• Deep understanding and passion for social media
• Strong knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint, Illustrator a plus
• A sense of humor and a love for challenge; a team player who can also work autonomously and be responsible for individual achievement.
