Us Weekly is seeking a savvy and dedicated Social Media Editor to manage all relevant social media channels. The ideal candidate will have a successful track record in social media channel management and in digital community building/engagement. This person must be able to drive the overall social strategy while enthusiastically rolling up their sleeves to ensure that all social channels are effectively programmed. He/she will energetically take these presences to the next level with a focus on growing new audiences while simultaneously facilitating increased engagement within the existing social communities. Furthermore, he or she will have a true passion for celebrity news and have the unique ability to serve as Us Weekly’s primary representative in the social space.


• Direct responsibility for managing and programming Us Weekly’s Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Tumblr, and Google+ pages multiple times per day. Each platform requires a different number of posts per day and this person will optimize accordingly.
• Work closely with the rest of the Us Weekly digital editorial team to ensure that major breaking news and exclusives are touted through our social channels.
• Work effectively with the digital marketing and sales teams to ensure that any campaigns with social elements are executed to plan and in a timely manner
• Keep up-to-date on social media best practices, trends and the competitive landscape. This person will accordingly champion changes to site design and user experience while proactively reaching out to new potential social partners
• Use analytics and qualitative data to measure success and drive decisions within our social channels i.e. continue strategies that work and discontinue techniques that are no longer effective
• He/she will manage all of Us Weekly’s digital traffic partnerships (extending beyond the social realm) to ensure that all parties deliver on their respective obligations.


• Bachelor's degree required (BA/BS)
• 2-3 years relevant work experience with a minimum 1-2 years demonstrated success in managing the social media presence of an organization across multiple social platforms
• Impressive writing and editing skills with the keen ability to tailor the approach for each social platform and with the Us Weekly voice
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment are a must
• Strong interpersonal/diplomacy skills required plus the ability to expertly manage partnerships
• Willing and able to adjust to changing demands and shifting priorities; grace under fire a must
• Deep understanding of and passion for celebrity news; Us Weekly super fans preferred
• Unique ability to balance editorial and marketing social objectives and make decisions that are best overall for the brand and business
• Strong web production skills including HTML and Photoshop expertise preferred
• Understanding of SEO and how it is affected by social platforms preferred but not required
