HarperCollins Publishers seeks an Editorial Director to join its Children's division to create vision for picture books with Early Childhood Group and manage all content and quality of content.

The Editorial Director:

- Manages a program or a number of high-profile and best-selling authors/programs.
- Has an extremely high awareness of market needs and comes up with ideas, approaches big-name authors, and builds list proactively.
- Works directly with authors, agents, and all in-house departments.
- Partners with all departments to develop marketable packages across the imprint.
- Shares supervision of Editorial Assistant.
- Oversees fact sheet, jacket and catalog copy; reviews marketing material.
- Presents titles at various meetings (i.e. launch, acquisitions, editorial).
- Maintains an established network of industry contacts.
- Negotiates contracts with agents.
- Meets number of books/dollar goals.

Candidates must have superior writing, organizational, negotiation and supervisory skills; proven ability to create vision and program management as well as develop and maintain relationships with authors and agents; high level of creativity; a strong bottom line orientation to the business; exceptional communication skills and attention to detail; is self-motivated and well-organized; must possess college degree or equivalent work experience.
