The Director, Retail Development-Toys R’ Us/Babies R’ Us reports into VP of retail business development. The Director will oversee the day-to-day management of retail accounts in designated class of trade and carry out strategic direction and business goals set by the VP. Lead communication, business development and strategy for Toys R’Us buyers, merchandisers and executives. With the VP, develop strategy and approach to maximize the Toys ‘R Us business, and oversee operations in order to grow the overall CP business.


Manage and assist in the development of managers
Responsible for maximizing the revenue of Nickelodeon CP business at specified retail accounts
Present at buyer and executive level to specified retailers to ensure that our properties are getting selected over our competitors and that products are being placed and sold through
Supervise communication with buyers and merchandisers across all retail categories
Develop and maintain strong relationships with buying and marketing staff at assigned retail accounts.
Develop strong relationships with licensee sales reps to ensure they deliver and sell effectively to our retailers
Responsible for weekly status meetings with internal Lines of Businesses and weekly/Bi-weekly calls with licensee sales teams
Proactively suggest category and store-wide opportunities to drive sales
Research and brainstorm promotional opportunities by account
Educate assigned accounts on benefits of supporting Nickelodeon and Viacom Consumer Product managed properties
P&L Management for Nickelodeon/Toys ‘R Us business
Concept, develop and work with Retail Marketing to drive execution of online programs with traditional retail accounts including: Direct Mail; Cross-Promotional Opportunities; Sweepstakes; Point of Purchase; Gift with Purchase; Tie-ins with Nickelodeon Promotional Partners and Public Relations
Work with Nickelodeon Consumer Marketing team to identify opportunities and drive execution of campaigns involving retailers
Manage and maximize account-specific budgets
Analyze data (ASIN, POS, search, news) to ensure accuracy, identify trends, and pinpoint opportunities at assigned accounts; provide insights on industry and competitive trends in these businesses as a subject matter expert for Nick


Must Have:

Bachelor’s degree
8-10 years experience in retail business development or corporate/HQ retail sales
Very strong written and oral communication skills
Track record of developing and executing successful retail programs
Strong presentation/communication/sales ability
Strong analysis skills
Strong organizational skills
Strong relationship-building skills
Strong leadership and management skills


Risk Taker / Creative Thinker
Experience/Knowledge of assigned markets and retail structure
Existing relationships in assigned accounts
Ability to set goals to meet department objectives and develop operational plans and processes
Leads or contributes to complex and/or diverse projects and develops solutions
