Your tasks
The Crown Publishing Group has a newly-created opportunity for an Executive Managing Editor. This individual will be responsible for the oversight of a dynamic department and will work closely with all of Crown?s NYC-based imprints, which publishes approximately 350 hardcover and paperback titles per year. This position reports to the VP & Group Executive Director of Production, Managing Editorial and Production Editorial.

?Oversight of the managing editorial department including a digital managing editorial component
?Develop and implement new publishing/process initiatives (e.g., digital workflow) and analyze and institute new editorial processes as they relate to managing editorial
?Set departmental priorities and direction to keep pace with corporate best practices, strategic initiatives, and new technologies by actively participating in corporate group forums, testing new processes, and consulting with other Random House managing editors
?Collaborate with Production, Production Editorial and Design departments to set direction regarding strategic issues, including troubleshooting and problem solving
?Work closely with editorial departments to establish systems for transmitting manuscripts, cover copy, and other materials
?Ensure compliance; tracking and reviewing transmittals; attending weekly and seasonal meetings

Our requirements
Qualified candidates must have a minimum of ten years of trade book or other related managing editorial experience; excellent communication and organizational skills; and the ability to multitask under tight deadlines. Excellent computer skills required. Basic knowledge of proofreading and copyediting is a plus.
