Our fast-paced, Berkley Managing Editorial Department is currently seeking a production editor to oversee all aspects of text and cover work for both front- and backlist titles. Working on mass market, trade, hardcover, and electronic titles—both fiction and nonfiction. The Production Editor:1.Works on and reviews all phases of text (copyedits, proofreads, reviews all freelanced work, etc.) 2.Copyedits and proofreads book jackets and covers through all stages of production3.Reviews all aspects of backlist reprints in addition to any galleys-related work (covers in particular)4.Hires and oversees the work of freelancers (copyeditors, proofreaders, indexers, etc.)5.Coordinates schedules with freelancers, editors, and production6.Oversees all aspects of the work of an assistant production editorRequirements:•At least 2 years production/managing editorial experience •Previous supervisory experience•Excellent copyediting, proofreading and organizational skills•Must be able to work and review work electronically using Track Changes in Word 2003•Electronic editing proficiency a must•Detail and accuracy oriented•Works well under pressure and in a deadline-oriented environment with multiple projects at once•Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects •Excellent communication and writing skills•PC skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook) requiredPlease email your resume and cover letter with salary requirement to firstname.lastname@example.org indicating the position for which you are applying in the subject line.
