Simon & Schuster Digital is seeking a hands-on, innovative, results-driven Head of Product to help develop, manage and execute the company's digital product portfolio. Sitting at the nexus of technology and world-class content, Simon & Schuster Digital is responsible for delivering innovative products, experiences and services that touch millions of readers, generate revenue and set the future direction for Simon & Schuster in the rapidly evolving book industry. The Head of Product will be responsible for developing new products and applications across web, social and mobile that have the potential to impact book publishing for years to come. Products that engage and delight users including: ecommerce and subscription services, browser based e-readers, Facebook and other social media applications, responsive design and native apps for mobile users, online book communities, video technologies, and services that support authors, editors and marketers.

The ideal candidate is both strategic and detail-oriented, with a proven track record working within the agile process to successfully develop consumer-facing products in Internet and mobile environments. This person loves product, is full of ideas, and can turn complex business goals into reality. Utilizing visionary thought leadership and strong technical and business backgrounds, the Head of Product will work with the product team, engineers, designers, and other members of the Digital Group to define and develop compelling products. Key responsibilities include prioritizing and scheduling deliverables based on company goals and business requirements.


· Operates as product owner for digital products developed by the Engineering group and manages a product and design team.
· Responsible for the UX of all existing and new products, including wireframes and design
· Collaborates with business sponsors, design/usability staff and developers to define, write and prioritize software features. Accountable for delivering business value on new products and enhancements within time and budget constraints.
· Works closely with Scrum Master and developers to ensure decisions are made, obstacles removed, questions answered, and that work is promptly reviewed and approved so that product/development team commitments are met.
· Participates as part of the team in agile practices: daily stand-ups and weekly story writing, review, estimation, and acceptance, showcases and retrospectives
· Manages and prioritizes user acceptance testing feedback, both changes and issues leading up to releases
· Works across the Digital Group as well as the entire S&S organization to gather requirements for new products and features
· Works with Metrics Analyst, and analyze customer on-site behavior using ClickTale, to see how people are using the product and make improvements based on those insights
· Manages usability testing program including budget, working with recruiter on finding appropriate testers, develop testing scripts and goals and perform and analyze tests
· Manages the AB testing program, including prototyping and innovation

· Seasoned Agile product professional with a strong technical and UX background and prior experience developing web-based and mobile consumer products
· Experience with eCommerce and digital media (books, TV, film, music) a plus
· Experience managing and leading product teams
