MetroFocus is a multiplatform news magazine produced by WLIW. MetroFocus features interviews, in-depth reporting, content from many partners and solutions-oriented reports from the New York metropolitan region. Major areas of coverage include sustainability, education, science and technology, the environment, transportation, poverty and underserved communities. MetroFocus.org amplifies that reporting with updates and original stories that also cover culture, government and politics, the economy, urban development and other news. The website integrates video from the broadcast, produces additional content that complements and extends the television broadcast reporting and interviews, and produces original video, galleries and interactive features.

An immediate opportunity is available for a Multimedia Producer with strong TV and web experience to be part of our team. We are looking for people who will be flexible and hardworking, as team roles will evolve over time. Ideal candidates will have a passionate interest in news and issues in the New York region and in public media; and experience in local media in the NY area.

Responsibilities include:
•Writing and editing online news and features related to television broadcasts;
•Creating and coordinating editorial content, images, and videos;
•Working as part of a broadcast and web team to coordinate video and other coverage;
•Generating ideas for stories, social media outreach and new ways to present content;
•Creating graphics and interactive materials for both web and television use;
•Editing video and audio for the website.

To qualify, candidates must have BS or BA, as well as at least 1 year experience working on a media website, preferably news or public affairs related. In addition, candidates must have:

•Excellent copy editing skills;
•Excellent story and headline writing ability;
•Strong news judgment;
•Superior organizational and interpersonal skills;
•Experience conducting interviews and a willingness to assist with broadcast production;
•Ability to edit video using Final Cut Pro.

Candidates with the ability to shoot video and report are preferred. Position reports to the Executive Producer of MetroFocus.
