News 12 Long Island is looking for the ideal candidate to provide day-to-day administrative support to the VP of Operations. The Newsroom Coordinator will act as a confidential assistant. Coordinate all administrative requirements for the VP of Operations . Assist with record-keeping and processing of business paperwork. Prepare and track Oracle purchase orders, track receivables and invoices and coordinate records with business manager. Direct calls for managers, newsroom, and assignment desk overflow. Handle inquires from internal and external customers. Interact with other News 12 services as necessary. Coordinate and plan special projects and events. Be able to order stationery and supplies. Coordinate repair and maintenance of office equipment. Maintain personnel records, including time sheets and tracking of review dates. Handle incoming and outgoing mail. Have the ability to process public and in house requests for transcripts or tapes. Answer viewer email and phone calls. Complete reports as requested to support business needs. Coordinate user accounts and participate in operating and covering the school closing system and phones. Assist with scheduling employees to work and distribution of schedule. Assist with coordinating crew vehicle repair. Assist in a variety of newsroom activities as needed, including ordering food for meetings. Represent News 12 services in a courteous and professional manner. Participate in special projects. Perform other duties as assigned.

A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred as well as five years administrative/secretarial experience preferred. Must have superior communication skills and solid computer skills, including excel, Word and database experience required. Should be able to work independently and be a self starter or as a member for a team and have the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Candidate must be able to work in an active, intense working environment, to work under deadline pressure, and have the ability to work a flexible schedule, including, nights, weekends and holidays.
