We have an exciting opportunity for a Production Editor in our Journals department. Responsibilities include managing the production of a list of journals from receipt of manuscripts to final print and online publication. This includes maintaining tracking systems, liaising with editors, authors, suppliers and internal departments. The successful candidate will possess strong verbal and written communication skills, knowledge of the STMS and society publishing industry, and has previous experience working with typesetters, printers, copyeditors, and proofreaders.The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree or equivalent, previous publishing or production editor experience, be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and, demonstrate organizational and project management skills including the ability to prioritize effectively and manage multiple projects simultaneously, strong attention to detail and the ability to work accurately and quickly He/she will be a good team player with demonstrable problem solving and decision-making skills, time-management, project-management, critical-thinking, and communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Previous publishing experience is required. Familiarity with style guides such as the Chicago Manual of Style and the AMA Manual of Style a plus. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently are essential; providing customer service to clients using high levels of diplomacy and influence occurs daily.
