Television Studio Production Instructor
BRIC is the community access television organization for Brooklyn. Its community media programs offer residents free access to media production facilities and equipment and low-cost media education through the Brooklyn Center for Media Education. BRIC's community media programming also includes three programming initiatives aired on the 4-channel BCAT-TV Network: community-produced Brooklyn Free Speech TV; BRIC-produced, Brooklyn-focused Brooklyn Independent Television; and Brooklyn Bulletin Board, a 24/7 looping announcement service used by Brooklyn non-profits.Purpose of Position: BRIC seeks experienced media professionals to teach the Basic Television Studio Production course to Brooklyn residents. Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesReporting to the BCME Manager of Education, the Television Studio Production Instructors' responsibilities include, but are not limited to:- Prepare lesson plans and provide instruction to classes of up to twelve adults- Evaluate students' progress and verify competence for certification to use our media center main studio, control room, mini studio, and studio equipment- Meet regularly with the Manager of Education to review curriculum and class outcomesEducation/Experience- Experience teaching television studio production to adults- Experience working with a diverse public with varying levels of technical skillSkills Required- Expertise in television studio operations: directing, control room operations, chroma keying, video switcher, character generator, teleprompter, robotic camera, microphones, and audio soundboard- Ability to be highly organized and detail oriented- Flexible schedule with possible weekend workCompensation & Schedule$28/hour; each course is 24 teaching hours, not including additional preparation time. The next course begins on January 7. Classes are Monday/Wednesday from 1 - 4pm.Interested candidates should send a brief cover letter and resume.
