Reporting to the Director of Public Relations, the Digital Media Editor is responsible for the creation and deployment of editorial content used to promote LIU Brooklyn through social media, the campus’ website and other digital platforms. The Digital Media Editor creates, develops and manages content for the campus homepage and other important marketing pages. The ideal candidate should possess strong writing skills, keen journalistic instincts and a unique feel for how people use the Web.
Principal Responsibilities
• Create, coordinate and manage editorial content for the LIU Brooklyn, LIU Pharmacy, LIU Global and LIU Hudson websites, working with campus departments and schools to ensure all departmental web pages contain current information and conform to university standards. Work with website designees from various departments — including admissions and marketing services — to facilitate the creation of new web pages and updates to existing pages.
• Lead the development and implementation of LIU Brooklyn’s social media strategy, posting daily news items to aid in recruitment, retention, employee communications and public exposure. Track and report on social media outcomes. Create an academic-year calendar and an integrated marketing calendar and use the calendars as tools in developing and implementing strategic social media campaigns. Work with other departments in monitoring, coordinating and enhancing social media efforts across the campus.
• Maintain active online news and calendar portals that provide timely updates and event information. Use LIU’s content management system to upload new content items and edit existing content for press releases, newsletters, calendar events and faculty/expert guide profiles. Post campus announcements and emergency alerts on campus homepage.
• Coordinate with each department to provide timely updates to the administrative descriptions of the annual academic bulletins at each campus. Review and edit content supplied by departments for consistency with LIU marketing strategy and compliance with LIU style guidelines. Use LIU’s collaborative bulletin system to edit descriptions and submit for inclusion in bulletin.
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English or related field is required.
