Position Description:
Leading textbook publisher seeks Development Editor with creativity and strong writing skills to develop media and print content designed for undergraduate English courses. This position is located in our New York office.


Major Responsibilities:
• Managing content development for LearningCurve, our online adaptive quizzing program
• Developing other online and print content for students and instructors, with responsibility for reviews and market testing, design, art programs, and ancillary packages.
• Working with our media group to develop Web content, including tutorials; exercises on grammar, writing, and research; animations; videos; and other electronic content
• Keeping abreast of pedagogical and market trends
• Writing and editing promotional copy
• Traveling on occasion to professional conferences and college campuses

Required Skills / Knowledge:
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including a superior command of English grammar
• Close attention to detail
• Ability to juggle multiple ongoing projects and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently
• Interest in and ability to think creatively about the field of composition
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Experience Needed:
• Three to five years experience in college textbook publishing; English composition publishing preferred
• Experience teaching writing, preferably at the college level, is desirable.


Educational Background Required:
• Bachelor’s and preferably also Master’s degree in English or Writing.
