•Independently evaluate and manage requests; recommend which requests should be accepted, and decline those which cannot be accommodated.
•Assume primary responsibility for planning and executing major public announcements and media appearances.
•Draft talking points and speeches in collaboration with the Foundation's communications team to ensure alignment of the message (s).
•For press events, the Communications Manager will develop media lists; invite media; staff the press pool; coordinate with venue on press logistics; and provide onsite support as needed.
•Draft high-caliber, well-written press materials, press releases, briefings, correspondence and other key documents that are accurate, informational, and positively promote the Foundation’s work, and collaborating with senior staff in the review of these documents, which will range in complexity.
•Conduct online research as needed.
•Manage a comprehensive database of briefing documents and press materials that are accurate and up-to-date.
•Other duties as requested by the Foundation.

•Bachelors degree in communications or other related field.
•At least 5 years experience in communications or press relations.
•Exceptional writing and verbal communications skills.
•Familiarity and comfort working directly with members of the media, senior leaders and people from varied backgrounds is required. High level of diplomacy and professionalism required.
•Ability to learn things quickly and to adapt to change
•Ability to travel frequently, work weekends and possibly some holidays with little to no advance notice.

Physical and Other Requirements:
•Significant computer work, which may require repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting, and sustained visual and mental applications.
•Occasional lifting, bending, pulling, collating, and filing, some of which could be heavy (>15 lbs) or require the use of carts.
•Travel as needed, which may require walking distances, lifting & carrying luggage and boxes, and prolonged periods of sitting in tight quarters.
