International Account Manager (San Francisco based)

Publicitas, the world's largest media representation firm, sells ad space to US advertisers on behalf of premium media properties in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Canada, and Latin America. We currently have an opening in San Francisco for an Account Director.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Sales Director and the sales support team to grow ad revenue in a broad range of categories and provide regular reports on progress to Publicitas’ publishing new Canadian client (The Globe and Mail) and other publishers worldwide. In addition to The Globe and Mail, Publicitas’ portfolio includes all the international of Elle magazine (44 editions), Elle Decor, and other prominent media such as The Guardian (UK), Le Monde, South China Morning Post, London Evening Standard, Kommersant, The Times of India,and in-flight magazines (Air France, Emirates, etc.).

This position entails:

•Digital and print advertising sales in a variety of advertising categories
•Heavy prospecting for new business, establishing and maintaining relationships with clients and their agencies, closing new business, and growing existing business
•Increasing revenue across all represented titles
•Provide excellent customer service to premium US advertisers, their agencies, and international publishers
•Coordinate and ensure success of publisher visits to the market by taking them out on relevant calls
•Work together with Sales Director on strategic projects and pitches
•Working with digital counterparts to optimize revenue on-line
•Attending industry events, networking
•Occasionally attend publisher sales meetings overseas
•Working with support staff to gather competitive information from publishers by market and generate new leads

Key requirements:

•3-5 years experience in multi-media ad sales
•Intricate knowledge of international media buying and planning
•Able to sell print, online and possibly outdoor advertising
•Excellent communication skills, able to multitask daily and prioritize projects
•Ability to pitch various media brands and various media (magazine, newspaper, supplements, digital).
•Prior exposure to international media research (equivalents of MRI and ABC)
•Entrepreneurial spirit as Publicitas is a small structure inside a global network of offices
•Comfortable working in multicultural / multilingual environment
•Able to work with partners whose native language isn’t English, have different working habits and are in a different time zone
•Ability to work as an intermediary between clients and publishers
•Quick study, can-do attitude, extremely adaptable, great problem-solver
•Knowledge of international media landscape helpful
•Prior agency, rep firm or publisher experience preferred
•Ability to work from home and remotely


Conversational knowledge of French, Spanish or Portuguese helpful
Having worked or spent time in a different country is a plus

Position requires working closely with and reporting to New York-based Sales Director
