Ms. Beth Weitzman
Full Time
DC Magazine, a Modern Luxury publication, seeks an experienced and dynamic Editor-in-Chief. The multi-faceted position will develop and oversee the magazine's luxe content focusing on trends, cultural arts, fashion, home, real estate, art, design, philanthropy, society, events, profiles, dining, wine/spirits, tech and DC’s innovators (inside and outside the political sphere). The position will manage an editorial budget, editorial lineups, small in house staff and freelance team. Attending day and evening cultural/social/celeb events across DC to represent the magazine and spending time out and about tracking openings/trends etc. is an important part of this role. The ideal candidate is a go-getter, motivated team leader, who has superb time management skills and is a top-notch writer and editor with an entertaining yet sophisticated voice. He/she thrives on being the first to know before something new opens and has a rolodex filled with the city's movers and shakers. An eye for style and the finer things as well as a "can-do" attitude are also important characteristics. Candidate should be well-versed in AP style and have ample experience overseeing all aspects of magazine editorial production (from story ideation all the way to a polished keyline) as well as reporting and writing, preferably for a highly respected regional or national title. This is very much a hands-on position. The position will also oversee DC magazine’s soon to be launching specialty bi-monthly visitor magazine, digital newsletter and the local component of the website. Candidates should be creative thinkers and writers, and should be located in DC or be willing to relocate at their expense. Out-of-state candidates must have previously lived in the city for a reasonable amount of time and know it, and its players well. Only qualified candidates will be contacted.
