The Southern Environmental Law Center is seeking a program communications manager to be based in our Atlanta, Georgia office. This is an excellent opportunity to join an organization that is successfully addressing some of the most important and challenging environmental issues facing the Southeast and the nation.
About the position: SELC’s work is focused in five program areas: energy and healthy air, transportation and land use, clean water, coast and wetlands, and forest protection. Under the leadership of the Director of Program Communications, and working in close coordination with SELC attorneys, the program communications team is responsible for developing and implementing communication plans and strategies for priority issues and cases within these program areas, and the strategic use of the array of communications tools and approaches to reach target audiences and further SELC’s program objectives. The Atlanta Communications Manager will have lead responsibility for media relations and the successful implementation of all facets of program communications work in Georgia and Alabama.
Compensation: The salary range for this position is $56,000 - $70,000, commensurate with experience, and an excellent benefits package.
Qualifications: We are seeking a communications professional with a strong work ethic and sense of initiative. The ideal candidate will have excellent academic credentials, a minimum of four years experience in communications or public relations work, a strong working knowledge of web-based communication strategies, excellent verbal, writing, and editing skills, a demonstrated ability to work well in a collegial setting, and a strong personal commitment to SELC’s mission.
