Job Requirements or Qualifications

The Senior Editor for Teacher Licensure & Certification Assessment manages development of 15 to 20 innovative frontlist titles and related digital content annually. This position supports REA’s strategic objective to remain the leader in teacher certification test-prep publishing.

Key responsibilities include:

• Manage test-prep product development from concept to release – and be equally adept at enhancing existing products – in both digital and print platforms.

• Build and manage product teams of freelance writers, editors, technical reviewers, developers, graphic designers and agencies to produce quality products on time and on budget.

• Maintain specific product portfolio accountability but also collaborate with fellow team members across product lines and series.

• Monitor and shape backlist revisions across the position’s portfolio to meet evolving customer needs in the context of the competitive landscape.

• Maintain a high degree of familiarity with the digital technologies used in presenting educational content online.

Qualified candidates should have:

• Bachelor’s degree in liberal arts.
• At least eight years’ publishing experience, including hands-on digital content know-how and competence in digital workflow.
• Strong understanding of social network (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, etc.) capabilities and implications for product development.
• Broad knowledge and interest in teaching and learning.
• Highly organized work habits in the midst of multiple complex projects.
• Excellent knowledge of teacher education/certification competitive landscape in publishing.
• Outstanding editorial skills and demonstrated success in building and managing a large network of freelancers.
• Strong knowledge of standardized testing and test-prep publishing (online & print).
• Experience in conceiving successful digital products devised to complement printed book offerings.

This position will be working out of our Piscataway, NJ office. This is not a telecommuting opportunity.
