Editorial Assistant - Adult Trade
ABRAMS is seeking an accurate, highly organized, detail-oriented individual to provide administrative and editorial assistance to the editor-in-chief and two senior editors. Individual will be responsible for trafficking and logging editors’ materials; copy editing, proofreading, collating multiple sets of galleys, keyboarding, picture management and labeling; acting a liaison with authors, photographers, packagers and outside contacts; providing assistance with research and development of new projects; drafting fact sheet, catalogue and flap copy for books; acting as point person for selected buy-in titles each season; taking notes at meetings as required; responding to unsolicited proposals; and providing overall administrative assistance (answer phones, faxing, email, filing).Qualifications include a BA; 1 – 2 years’ publishing and/or office experience; excellent communication and writing skills are essential; copy editing/proofreading experience preferred. Position requires the ability to work independently, follow through consistently and juggle multiple priorities efficiently and calmly. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Background or strong interest in art, art history, design and architecture strongly preferred. Ability to create and maintain simple databases. PowerPoint, InDesign and IView Media Pro a plus.
