ABRAMS is seeking a highly organized, energetic individual to provide general editorial and administrative support to the Adult Managing Editorial Department with an annual list of 200+ titles including art books, illustrated cookbooks, crafting books and calendars. Individual will be responsible for supporting the senior members of the department in working with the editorial, design and production departments to guide books through the pre-production process; using a title management database to set up entries and track book data and update information; assisting in preparing books for reprintings; creating bar codes and assigning ISNBs; applying for CIP data; tracking book-related materials for sales and marketing uses; copy editing and proofreading books, jackets and marketing materials; and providing overall general administrative support.

Qualifications include a BA degree; minimum 2 years’ experience in a managing/production editorial department at a book publisher; excellent copy editing (on hard copy and electronically) and proofreading skills; working knowledge of the Chicago Manual of Style. Individual must be able to work collaboratively and diplomatically across departments and be able to manage time and meet deadlines. Proficiency in MS Word and Excel. Previous experience working on illustrated books a plus; familiarity with electronic markup/Acrobat Pro a plus.
