Amazon Kindle offers the opportunity to work with vast stores of exceptionally rich data and implement business-impacting predictive and descriptive models. This position is in the worldwide pricing team for Amazon's Kindle Ebooks division.

You will be expected to work directly with senior management on key challenges faced in content pricing, including estimation of price elasticity for EBooks. You should be able to apply the frontier of economic thinking to pricing. You will build econometric models, using our world class data systems, and apply economic theory to solve business problems in a fast moving environment.

The ideal candidate will:
- Own the whole process of measuring Ebook price elasticity; from data collection to modeling to working with internal customers of the data.

- Think creatively: Amazon is a place that is permanently pushing the boundaries of the industry. We are looking for someone that will not just estimate models and write analyses. We want someone that will take it to the next level in terms of how to square the theory of pricing and Amazon's core business tenet of customer obsession.

- Generate Impact: We want someone obsessed with impact. We want someone that is not just interested in finding patterns in the data but understands how to turn those discoveries into value for our customers every day.

  • PhD in Economics
  • Experience with Stata, R
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Two to three years of experience in pricing, private consulting or in academic research
  • Experience using SQL scripting, Matlab
  • Strong background in econometrics, industrial organization, economic theory, and quantitative methods
  • Strong research track record
