Role Description:
NYRR is seeking a forward-looking, innovative Director of Digital and Social Media (DDSM) to lead and coordinate all digital efforts across the organization. The DDSM will be responsible for overseeing the operations and content for the NYRR website and all digital channels. In this role, the DDSM will work to ensure NYRR’s digital presence is consistent with its defined branding, messaging goals, and overall strategic imperatives.
The Director of Digital and Social Media will report to the VP of Marketing (head of the Brand, Marketing, and Communications department). The DDSM will also work closely with each department and product line to understand their goals and priorities, and develop appropriate digital marketing plans and programs to help NYRR accomplish its organization-wide goals.

Specific Responsibilities will include:
•Manage and update content for the NYRR web site, ING NYC Marathon website, and other related web portals
oProvide daily direction to social media correspondents, web designers, etc., Facilitate team meetings for content development
oDeliver a balance of creative, well-written content, headlines, page titles, audio and video clips, to ensure effectiveness of online material and consistency with brand messaging /web communications strategy
oProvide design, support and technical advice on the creation of digital media (and/or purchase of digital media technology)
•Act as project manager, seeing the process of creating digital media products through from inception to finished product
•Work cross-functionally with all relevant departments to ensure all needs/changes/etc. are addressed and incorporated in all digital portals
•Review and stay current with all industry trends, product developments, etc. and ensure all are incorporated into NYRR’s digital presence
•Oversee related administrative activities such as capturing relevant metrics (e.g. web traffic, performance), holding debrief meetings, conducting surveys, retaining data, and maintaining server performance
•Manage external contractors (as necessary) in relation to their work on web page development or content for web site
•Continually work towards process improvements and efficiencies; analyze new opportunities and prepare recommendations for the executive committee
•Conduct analyses of competitors’ web sites and social networking activities
•Provide leadership, training, and mentoring for web writing/content and page development for internal staff as needed
•Serve as a working member of the intranet (SharePoint) sub-committee and IT committee

•8-10 years of web development, digital marketing, and/or website content management experience
•Deep understanding of the digital environment and evolving tools, platforms, and technologies used to improve online presence; Excellent working knowledge of social media outreach strategies and community building
•Knowledge of web design, desktop publishing, photo and video imaging; Familiarity with SharePoint software
•Experience in online marketing and e-commerce strategies and tactics; fluency with website management, web analytics and conversion metrics
•Demonstrated ability to manage a complex workload, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, perform under pressure, and use good judgment in providing guidance and leadership regarding concise web style writing and editing
•Excellent multi-tasking, project management, and people management skills
•Strong written (copywriting, editing) and verbal communication skills
•Ability to interface with all levels of personnel and management
•Bachelors degree in a related field; graduate degree a plus
