The Huffington Post Canada is looking for an experienced Lifestyle Editor to oversee our Living channel during a 6-month maternity leave based out of our Toronto office. The ideal candidate is an adaptable, quality-driven editor who can hit the ground running in a fast-paced newsroom environment. If you’re an online editor and journalist with solid management skills and social media savvy who knows how to apply your news sense to create compelling, original Canadian lifestyle content, we want to hear from you!

The Living Editor will be responsible for the following:
-Help execute and direct HuffPost Living’s editorial mandate, which includes coverage of topics including health and fitness, food, sex and relationships, parenting, social-change/charity and travel.
-Create and maintain an editorial calendar that incorporates major features for sponsorship
-Daily management of the HuffPost Living site, including post and blog publishing, photo editing and slideshow creation, and main page updates
-Manage and work with the Associate Editor
-Respond to breaking news and provide relevant and related lifestyle coverage
-Promote and drive traffic to HuffPost Living site through various traffic drivers, including social media
-Maintain relationships with contributors, bloggers and other content partners, as well as PR contacts
-Develop and execute online and social media strategies to establish the site’s voice and grow audience
-Create SEO strength for the site through consistent use of best publishing practices
-Monitor growth and performance using known traffic measurement tools

Ideal candidates should have the following skills and qualifications:
-Minimum 5+ years journalism experience
-2-4 years online experience, including use of content management systems, knowledge of online editing practices, SEO concepts, social media growth and promotion strategies
-Expert knowledge of lifestyle content audience needs – well-established in the space
-Ability to analyze traffic data, track metrics and respond to them
-Good understanding of HTML, Photoshop and blog publishing platforms as well as social media platforms
-Endless energy and ideas for high-quality content that delivers, delights and excites
-Exceptional organizational skills and efficient publishing practices
-Uncompromising attention to detail and high quality standards
-Experience in various social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, Pinterest
-Experience managing content partners and junior editors
-Thrives under pressure, excels in a collaborative environment, takes fun seriously
-Flexibility, adaptability, creativity are essential

Please note this is a 6 month contract position.
