The Huffington Post Canada is looking for an experienced editor for a 12-month contract at HuffPost B.C. Our ideal candidates are intimate with the news landscape in B.C., have experience in the digital space, and know what issues and subjects that interest British Columbians.

We will need an editor who can continue the voice and vision of HuffPost B.C., which launched last August, with significant, compelling and relevant news through original and aggregated articles, blogs, slideshows and videos. We are looking for editors who have a three to five years’ experience in digital media who want to work for an exciting brand.

Overseeing and coordinating editorial and production aspects of the Huffington Post B.C. section:
•Ensuring the Huffington Post B.C. reflects our editorial vision, for British Columbians
•Acquire, create, edit, publish and promote B.C. blog and news content
•Identify and recruit the province’s most compelling voices to contribute to the blog
•Managing the B.C. channel on a day-to-day basis through our content management system, covering news and other topics
•Selecting, creating, writing, publishing and editing content, create engaging story packages
•Disseminating content through social media and other engagement tools
•Incorporating multi-media elements into the site sections
•Developing and executing online and social media strategies to grow new audience
•Monitoring growth and performance against determined metrics

Desired Skills & Experience
Ideal candidates should have the following skills and qualifications:
•4+ years’ experience working with general news and other B.C. content
•2-4 years online experience preferred, including using content management systems, knowledgeable in online editing, SEO concepts, social media growth and promotion
•Expert knowledge of B.C. content and audience needs – lives and breathes news, from scandal to policy to major issues affecting the province and country at large.
•Ability to analyze traffic data, track metrics and respond to them.
•Basic understanding of HTML, Photoshop and blog publishing platforms as well as social media platforms
•Endless energy and ideas for high-quality, reliable content, and exceptional organizational skills,
•Thrives under pressure
