The Mount Sinai Medical Center, founded in 1852, is a 1,171-bed, tertiary-care teaching facility acclaimed internationally for excellence in clinical care. Located on Manhattan's Upper East Side, the center encompasses The Mount Sinai Hospital and Mount Sinai School of Medicine.


As a key member of the Development team, you will assist in the development of comprehensive communication materials for principal- and major-gift level donors and prospects and trustees, handling a variety of projects to support Capital Campaign fundraising. In addition, you will assist in the creation of materials specific to principal donor cultivation and stewardship, such as proposals, formal reports and presentations, as well as campaign communications for broader dissemination.

Responsibilities include:

•Working with faculty, senior administrators, and fundraising colleagues to craft major proposals and reports for individuals
•Directing efforts in support of significant gifts of $1 million plus
•Working with Directors of Development to draft and finalize proposals for strategic priorities
•Conducting research interviews with faculty, staff and others to compose appropriate and effective copy for individual proposals and stewardship materials
•Ensuring that messaging is consistent with messages developed for Development Communications
•Coordinating stewardship work with the Stewardship/Donor Relations team
•Developing written language to be used in proposals, white papers, acknowledgment letters and other communications
•Contributing to principal donor cultivation and stewardship strategies as appropriate
•Reviewing and editing written materials to ensure quality and consistency
•Performing other related functions as needed

To qualify, you must have a Bachelor's degree with a concentration in Journalism, Communications, English other related area of study, along with 5 years experience in fundraising and proposal writing in a healthcare or other not-for-profit setting; experience with healthcare or academic medical center writing strongly preferred. Superior organizational, oral/written/interviewing communication and multitasking abilities will be expected, as will the ability to work collegially in a face-paced, deadline-driven environment, with insights into how best to support fundraising officers.
