Public Relations Specialist


Purchase College, SUNY, is re-opening search for a public relations specialist to provide senior-level planning that positions the college and its brand positively in news and media outlets (print, digital, and broadcast). The PR Specialist will serve as official college spokesperson; develop media plans and manage all advertising. Qualified candidates must demonstrate willingness and ability to think beyond traditional public relations tactics and strategies—designing and executing innovative approaches that persuade and engage media in telling the college's most compelling stories. Requirements and qualifications: Bachelors degree in related field (graduate degree preferred); minimum of five years public/media relations experience, preferably in higher education, government or nonprofit environment; strong knowledge of local, regional, and national media outlets with evidence of media contacts and connections; documented professional efficiency and success; ability to quickly and creatively develop a wide range of materials including press releases, talking points, media pitches and presentations; strong experience working with and integrating social media strategies and tactics into all aspects of public relations efforts.
