Smithsonian Media is currently seeking an experienced and motivated Sales Account Manager to join our New York ad sales team. The Sales Account Manager is responsible for selling multi-media packages to a wide variety of advertisers and agencies. They will provide marketing and media information to potential and current clients to generate advertising sales for Smithsonian magazine and other titles as well as digital, television, and events.

Responsibilities include:

• Maintain and grow business with current clients and agencies.
• Develop new business accounts across print, digital, television and event platforms.
• Understand customer objectives in order to utilize appropriate mix of all available advertising and research assets.
• Work with the Smithsonian team to collaboratively and creatively build business.
• Promote and increase the awareness of Smithsonian Magazines and its extended properties with mission consistent/culturally relevant events, presentations, sales calls and written communications to clients.
• Forecast, track, and report sales.

Education & Experience:

Undergraduate degree with a minimum of 5-6 years experience in advertising or media sales, or sales related field.

*At least 2 years Digital experience.
*Knowledge of media buying process and client and agency infrastructure.
*Knowledge of multi-industry developments concerning contacts, companies, and products.
*Excellent communication and presentation skills.
*Demonstrated success in client management with existing roster of client and agency contacts.
*Ability to skillfully manage accounts and a volume of simultaneous projects and requests.

Base Salary plus Commission (base salary commensurate with experience).
