The New York Daily News is seeking to fill numerous positions in New York and New Jersey. These are selling positions primarily focused on developing new business by selling digital packages, comprised of a full array of small business services, to new and non-traditional customers. These services will include SEO, SEM and Facebook campaigns; digital directory listings, desktop and mobile site development, turnkey or custom video and more. We offer a full line of digital products that help our customers reach and interact with todays consumer. Our Digital Media Consultants are Google Certified Professionals and Yahoo! Strategic Local Ambassadors. As a Digital Media Consultant you will prospect for new business through cold calling, networking, referrals, and other lead sources. When meeting with the owners of small and mid-sized businesses your consultative approach will help the business to select the most appropriate, innovative marketing solution.

Digital Media Consultants will conduct all aspects of the job to include prospecting, research, proposals, coordination with fulfillment, servicing after the sale, maintaining and reporting on pipeline activity and sharing best practices across the team. This role will be supported by a fulfillment team that will help ensure that the customers objectives are reached.


Develops and strategizes prospects outside our traditional customer base.
- Identifies vertical market segments and determines how to maximize penetration into each segment.
- Secures maximum potential revenue out of customer base in accordance with initiative goals.
- Identifies appropriate prospects and conducts outreach.
- Cold calls to secure meetings.
Thoroughly prepares for each call following established techniques.
- Researches client marketing efforts.
- Fact finds to understand clients business and products/services.
- Creates proposals and coordinates with fulfillment as appropriate on pricing/recommendation.
- Provides service after the sale to ensure expectations are met/exceeded; secures renewal and identifies and follows up on up-sell opportunities.
Meets all assigned goals, all objectives for sales volumes, call completions, renewals and new sales as established.
- Updates CRM system on prospect/client intelligence.
- Manages accurate pipeline reporting information.
- Uses technology tools to maximize profitability.
- Reports each morning all results from the previous days efforts including all necessary paperwork ready to be reviewed and forwarded for processing.
- Meets established goals of sales volume and other key metrics as defined.
- Participates in all scheduled sales meetings and/or training sessions.
Follows up within required time limits on all communications received.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

One to three years minimum experience working in sales desired for this position with consideration given to candidates with interactive, newspaper, media or yellow page background.

Must have the ability to generate market segments and effectively sell a broad array of products with solid knowledge of digital tools. The incumbent/candidate must have a detailed work ethic, be highly motivated, well organized and be able to communicate effectively with a widely diverse group of individual customers by phone and in person. Must have valid drivers license and have use of a reliable vehicle, if needed.
