Adoptive Families magazine is looking for editorial and sales assistance with the editing, sales, and layout of the 2013 Adoption Guide.

This 8 - 12 week project position, beginning now and continuing until the Adoption Guide is sent to the printer on or about May 1, 2013, offers an opportunity to build web and print editing, layout, and database experience.

The annual Adoptive Families Adoption Guide is a 120 page print publication with a digital component (website and mobile app) as well as a searchable online professional directory. The Adoption Guide contains up-to-date information about the adoption process and options, along with worksheets, budgeting tools, and personal essays.

Key Responsibilities:
1.Working with the Sales Director, reach out to adoption and assisted reproduction professionals to solicit display advertising and directory listings.
2. Assure accuracy of listing information in company database.
3. Working with company's existing database programmers, create searchable databases of new listings as well as listings for print publication.
4. Assist editors in layout and proofing process of print publication as well as updating of web sites.
5. Assist editors by updating print and web editorial content to reflect changes in adoption requirements and laws.

Job requirements:
Each year we bring on a super-smart, highly literate, self-starter (often a graduate student) to assist in all aspects of the creation of the annual Adoption Guide. While no specific experience is necessary, we are looking for a talented generalist with:
*Superior writing/editing skills.
*Genial and effective telephone manner.
*Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, and organizational skills
*Great attention to detail.
*Ease with online databases.
*HTML experience not required, but a plus
*B.A. from first-rate undergraduate program.
