Global Strategy Group (GSG) is seeking an Associate to join our growing NY Communications practice. GSG’s work environment is fast-paced and demanding. Associates are expected to juggle multiple assignments and deadlines simultaneously, whether that’s managing projects for a client, drafting memos, pitching stories to reporters, or assisting with the development of a new business proposal. Ideal candidates will be motivated, responsible, self-starters with excellent written and verbal communications skills.

Responsibilities
•Work with senior team to service advocacy, corporate and non-profit clients
•Research and write client-facing materials, including memos, presentations, press releases, statements, talking points, fact sheets etc.
•Provide support on media relations programs, including compiling and managing press contact lists and pitching stories to news outlets
•Conduct daily media monitoring (traditional and social) and create coverage reports for a range of clients
•Perform background research and create briefing materials for senior staff, in preparation for meetings and calls with clients and potential clients
•Contribute to the development of new business proposals and presentations for prospective clients

Qualifications:
•Prior experience in communications, media relations, and/or public relations within government, politics, or a related field preferred
•Familiarity with traditional and digital communications, including social media platforms
•Experience executing media relation campaigns Strong written and verbal communication skills
•Excellent project management skills and a proven ability to successfully juggle multiple assignments
•Team player with the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues, clients, the press and other audiences
•Ability to work efficiently with an emphasis on attention to detail
•Strong interest in politics, advocacy and social and traditional news media
•Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of applications

Education: Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience required. Masters degree a plus.
