ABRAMS seeks a detail-oriented individual with expert-level copyediting (hard copy and electronically) and proofreading skills to assist in managing the editorial process for a midsize illustrated book publisher with an annual list of 200+ titles including art books, illustrated books, cookbooks and craft books. Individual will be responsible for working with Editorial, Design and Production departments to create and track workable schedules that support sales and marketing deadlines and ensure timely delivery of books; copyediting and proofreading book interiors, jacket copy and marketing materials; guiding books through the preproduction process including collating and checking corrections on page layouts, color proofs and bluelines; hiring, managing and evaluating freelance copyeditors and proofreaders; creating and tracking schedules; using a title management system to track and maintain books data and schedules; tracking book-related materials for sales and marketing uses; working on seasonal catalogs.

Qualifications include a bachelor's degree; 5+ years' experience as a managing editor or production editor in the book industry preferably for an illustrated-book publisher and preferably with specific experience related to both cookbooks and craft books; thorough command of the Chicago Manual of Style; experience hiring and managing freelancers; proven ability to create and manage schedules, track multiple projects and meet important editorial production dates in a deadline-driven environment. Strong interpersonal skills and the proven ability to work collaboratively and diplomatically across departments. Proficiency in MS Word,Excel and Acrobat Pro
